So, everyone agrees that Next Mutation was a flop, but you can see here on this figure the lack of wackiness on the sculpts that had become a thing at the end of the vintage line, which is why in my opinion the line had died originally. The sculpts were becoming smoother and less detailed, and the figures more serious(look at that photo, it's like the soul was sucked out of the figure). That was the problem with the Japanese themed figures. They weren't as hyper detailed. They were usually figures that were taken too seriously. As a kid I bought a few of these anime turtles, but they really didn't interest me. They often had their own scales as well and couldn't work with your other Turtle figures that you already had.
