Attention LEGO anons, could use some advice on selling classic LEGO set. I've got my childhood collection (mostly Space, some Castle, some Underwater, etc) of around 50 or so sets. Each complete set packaged in a plastic bag with the instructions, but I can't absolutely guarantee that everything is included (these were literally a "moving house, parents had to break everything down and put into boxes, have been in storage for decades " sort of thing).
I also have a fuckload of "loose" pieces and "loose" instructions that were sort of all together, which I was thinking of selling a la carte. A more difficult setup would be to try and go through and build to completion one or more of them but last I tried that I found I was missing a few pieces that stopped my progression. I could try to find out what I'm missing I guess and maybe order (from where? To make sure its the right color and model? Lots of Brickset listings give a part list with models but not necessarily colors and one gray or black may be different from another, to say nothing for the tons of reds etc) to make one complete set, but that's a lot of time and effort as well as trying to find a place to buy what is necessary. So alternately, I could just sell the giant "grab bag" of parts and one of loose original instructions?
The big issue I've found is that trying to sell even completed kits for decent cash. I'd be happy to get the average Bricklink/Brickset price for each set, but apparently Bricklink won't let you just set up a store or start selling stuff until you buy enough first or something? Is it worth selling elsewhere (any advice besides Ebay? Mercari perhaps? Somewhere that won't rape you on fees and are likely to have buyers offering a fair price?) or is it really best to try to get qualified as a Bricklink seller?
