>>6962111The headsculpt is almost entirely what drove me away. I love me some good classic Carnage facial proportions--a long, lean head with a smooth front, distinct hatchet-shaped eyes that transition from clean to ragged at the edges, and a fair expanse of blackness between the eyes and teeth. The Yamaguchi head looks too squished and compressed, the teeth are virtually right below the eyes, and speaking of eyes, the shapes are a mess. It looks monstrous, but not in a way that's recognizable to me as Carnage. Proportionally, it almost looks to me more like McFarlane's Violator. I think one of the only toys ever to nail a good Carnage head is the Marvel Select. The recent Marvel Legends has decent proportions, but very lazy execution.
I know it's silly to nitpick accuracy on a figure that is literally Yamaguchi's reinterpretation of the character, but I just can't let this go for some reason. Maybe it's all those years of frustration growing up with Carnage toys with terrible headsculpts.
