I confess and I admit I finally caved into the PopMart and Labubu craze. I actually got one of those Disney Goofy ones off a Japanese site, Mandarake, that I get Bearbricks and Japanese blind boxes from.
Then I was looking at a local comic shop had a bunch of official PopMart plus a bunch of generic not bootleg but wannabe Labubus.
I saw... Ted. Somehow I haven't seen many US companies with Ted merch, but somehow Japan and Beijing companies do. I already bought some Ted prize plushes from Japan via Manda.
>>11618833>My wife thinks Labubus are demonicWorse. Godless communist propaganda.
Actually, the artist who made "The Monsters", aka Labubu and friends, is from Hong Kong and lives in the Netherlands. Dunno what his political affiliations are, but PopMart is a Beijing company.
>>11618854Labubus are feminine. Labubu is female and has a boyfriend that is a skeleton.
Hmm. Consorting with the undead. Maybe they are demonic. Actually, the artist said they were based on Norse myth and Nordic creatures. So much like a bunch of /pol/ trad-Euro larpers, they're based on pre-Christian pagan lore.
