Netflix makes a version, and I thought
"this thing is sooo popular, maybe I'll give it another chance" (hesitant because Netflix -destroyed- Cowboy Bebop)
and it was awesome.
to offer another suggestion, if Lego went with the anime version character designs, they would have to make "The Simpsons" style heads for a lot of the characters, instead of regular-printed minifig heads, so ultimately this is better for Lego fans who would want regular minifig heads instead of goofy unique molds
