I think that with Transformers design team shifting gears into beast modes (and realistic ones, at that), the trend could be continued with Pretenders, just ditch generic bot and human modes. I could see them and Fuzors being grouped together as "mutants" or something along those lines. This way the next line could have both BW and G1 characters while doing something new.
Examples:
>Quickstrike - his BW self
>Skullgrin - some bull/lizard hybrid alt mode, generally the same bot mode
>Carnivac - bot with realistic wolf alt mode
>Bludgeon - samurai bot with tank alt mode
>Stranglehold - gladiator bot with realistic rhino alt mode
New Weaponizer gimmick could be animal hybrids (maybe those mutant guys with no robot modes?) with accessories to replicate some of the crazier Pretender shells, like Octopunch's.
