Double jointed knees have their issues too, can look just as disjointed both in straight and bent position if done incorrectly, and done right you will likely lose any swivels at the knees because the joint is placed in too deep into the sculpt.
To look less chopped up using the spherical revolver joint, the front knee sculpt needs to end just touching the edge of the revolver joint. That will mean a bigger joint or smaller sculpt, and either way the joint will look more prominent. I'm sure people will complain about that just as much.
The knee looks very similar to Black Magician, minus the line detailing, so maybe look at that to see how prominent that knee will look in the end in color.
The added range of motion from the swivels at both ends makes it worth it though imo.
