>>10841585Bad take. Figures without calf or ankle swivel are unable to strike really wide stances without looking unnatural. This is because at some point you will be unable to turn the foot inward, so it will end up awkwardly cocked out to the side. It's hard to find a good example of this just googling around, but this kind of illustrates it. If I were doing this pose and had a calf swivel, I would turn his foot inward to face the camera, giving it more of a dynamic look and stable feeling.
This isn't the best example because it doesn't illustrate how bad this gets when both feet are in the equation, but I couldn't google up a better one.
