I bought a 90s barbie with really REALLY bad matted hair a few years ago when I was starting my collection. I worked for hours trying to boil and condition that horrible hair. It was a truly horrible experience. I ended up just locking the bad hair into braids, and never purchased a doll with matted hair ever again with the exception of Moana, and Tiana. I don't know how real black girls do it. So much work. So much effort. I'd just shave my head a few times a week, and buy a nice quality wig.
