>>10673399I think the whole goat=evil was a Greek thing in origins, because ancient Jews, Persians, Babylonians, etc all had no problem raising goats for milk, meat, leather, and every other raw material they could use. Goat milk and meat are pretty tasty too, I must say.
Yet a goat or cervid skull is still creepier to me than a cattle skull for some reason. The modern design of the Wendigo (first conceptualized in Pet Semetary) and the Goatman imagery /x/ always has fear-boners for are creepier to me than any minotaur or nightmare (as in the mythical evil horse). This was why I loved Hircine’s Morrowind design so damn much, it was genuinely scary seeing an elk-skulled pelt-wearing humanoid with that creepy modified voice being so calm yet ominous.
On trash-talking each other’s gods: I imagine unwashed ancient Babylonian neckbeards bickering about Ereshkigal vs Ishtar, showing off their purchased copies of terracotta statueshit and amulets to try and prove their megami-chan is the best. Hm, would that make pic related a waifu figure? Also, Tabletop Museum WHEN?
>>10673401Hercules: The Legendary Journeys actually portrayed Hades pretty close to the myths. Disney’s Hercules at least kept his powers mostly just for comic relief and went with the fast-talking deal-making angle for his character rather than a stereotypical Saturday morning cartoon warlord villain (thanks to James Wood).
