>>8549672Managed to find the slammers, feel like I had a lot more but they must've melted away over the years. Got some metal ones somewhere, I remember them being especially prized as they were significantly more expensive than just getting a pack of POGs with slammer included. While it was a relatively short fad at about a year or so, it was game on all over recess, with crazy stacks being played everywhere. Think the most memorable game I ever witnessed was two kids battling for a huge stack of slammers, a very uncommon sight since most kids couldn't afford to play them away; at most it'd be a half-dozen at stake or so.
Most of these saw action, that gold Dick Tracy actually broke during a game, had to superglue it back together and retire it. Those hard candy-looking ones weren't very popular for play, as you can tell they were prone to damage after far fewer games than their black and metal cousins. I recollect a tinge of envy when I saw one kid with his make-your-own-POGs machine once, later played him and won a POG made from a chocolate bar wrapper. They didn't last long in games though.
