Another stupid ass thing I just realized about this Trumpeter kit: It's meant to be a 1944 version of the ship, and the Dazzle camouflage (MS-33/1A) is from 1944 according to this. That is why the kit has F6F Hellcats, SBDs and TBF Avengers, even though the place I bought it from listed it as a 1942 USS Ranger.
This really frustrates me as I'm not sure about the exact configuration of Ranger in 1942, what the planes looked like, what its camouflage was then, etc, and all the photo etch for the planes I bought is for an earlier war Ranger with Wildcats, SBDs and TBDs not TBFs and F6Fs. There's also no decent photo etch upgrades for F6Fs or TBFs that I can find anyways.
None of the instructions of camouflage instruction sheet Trumpeter includes with the kit says anything about what year the kit is supposed to be either, neither does the damn box... so I guess what I'm gonna do is just use some of the photo etch for the Wildcats on the Hellcats... or find some way to do a 1942 camouflage scheme if I can find one and get it accurate.
I did find this pic of the Ranger in 1942 with the heavy AA armament though.
