And the reason why no one bothered to look for Serpentor is because who even checks for bodies in deep storage? The freighter existed as a base/storage facility for years, so a whole mess of shit was kept inside of it.
Who's going to specifically check for hazardous material, when they were only checking to see why they stopped hearing noises coming from inside the freighter? They triple checked all of the people who previous entered the freighter that day when everyone was buried alive, because those were on CC's enemies list. Why would medical waste be on that list? Even Mindbender, who died on the freighter, forgot about it.
You keep acting like Firefly came back to life all of a sudden, when the fact is, nobody was killed and their deaths were completely by accident/negligence. A few people managed to escape and tried to keep it a secret from one another, except one guy did a better job at it than the others. So a bigger plot hole is: how did Zartan and Billy manage to escape when people would have been looking to Zartan as a leader while inside the freighter?
Nevermind it's still an obvious red herring story element and Firefly fake out death was obviously planned out before that comic was ever drawn, because Hama would have a list of characters/vehicles the comic needed show maybe a year beforehand.
