>>11135204I drilled out the holes a little bit on both sides, just enough to let the ball go around a mm into the head and two into the hair, and suddenly it isn't so much of a problem. Now it looks complete from the front and back while retaining the articulation to get it out of the way of neck movement.
The lower neck joint is really strange, I did some probing, and they absolutely could have put a ball on the white part inside the chest to connect the neck. The cape's plastic part would have hidden most gaps that movement would have caused too.
