The problem is that we have people trying to glorify 30-year-old designs that are objectively shit in the first place. Without the original context of microman, a lot of the G1 roleplay alt modes completely lose their charm, especially when the modern versions are so chintzy/stylized that they couldn't even be mistaken for said object.
Would you seriously call pic related a better alt mode, just because you can tell what it's supposed to be?
