i used to have my nephews clean my stuff for me, in return they could play with whatever i handed to them.
Now they're too old to play with toys and i take months to getting around to dust my shelves.

I use this to clean them. cost me $1 and can handle delicate painted models.

It's pretty skinny, so it can get into every nook and cranny easily when you dust it sideways. Larger brushes have trouble doing that. So it works extremely well even for tiny models I've painted.

I also use an air purifier right next to the area I'm dusting in in order to capture most of the dust.

Air Purifiers do jack shit when it comes to actually keeping dust to a minimum. There's no noticeable effect despite me having two in the same room or even right next to shelves.
They only work for allergies and smells, and obviously to capture dust when I'm dusting toward the intakes.

You need to physically brush it off.

Any cheapshit dollar store brush will work great and it won't damage even unsealed painted model kits.

I didn't notice it until i took a picture of it, so you probably won't notice it just having it around or taking close ups with strong lighting.

Also, do you have an office with a bunch of electronics and AC going? It won't happen in your normal rooms.

Also also, keep a brush around. Dust your shit once a week. Any $1 paint brush works, better than a duster or puffy make up brush.

All toys have lube left over from the manufacturing process. That lube means more dust will stick on to them and also makes them harder to dust off.
Use dish soap and warm water to wash them. No need to scrub, just swish them around in the water and rinse them. Shake dry to take out any water left inside.

Buy a cheap $1 brush at Home Depot or Walmart. Something wide but thin. Use this to dust them off every 2-3 months. Being thin will allow the brush to get into every little corner of your toys when holding the brush sideways and it won't damage the paint job or even move eyelash thin antennas.

Just buy a cheap thin but wide paint brush from your local home depot for a buck.
Best toy duster you'll ever own and does a good job at dusting your shelves too.
I use something a little wider than this to dust my tini-tiny 1:144 scale tanks, infantry, and gunpla. So delicate it won't even harm antennas and machine guns, yet will push out all the dust from inbetween every microscopic crevice.
