>>7795309>That's all fair enough but was >>7795102 a quote? Does anyone actually think that $20 figures should be super-articulated, have premium paint applications and all accessories needed to capture every iteration of the character?Yes, right from the JTA blog post. He's nuts.
We can get "premium" paint applications, as in details colored, without slop, and good faces. It's all done by machine anyway so it's not a cost driver.
But expecting 25 accessories plus additional faces and costumes? That sort of accessory stuffing has already been used to jack up Masterpiece TransFormer prices. They're neat callbacks, I guess, but I sure didn't like paying 50% more for Sunsteaker and 100% more for Hound as a result, so I didn't. But there's the difference. I said "I don't want to pay for these extras so keep them" but Paul is saying "I don't want to pay for these extras so lower prices."
I don't get these people shrieking about what an outrage $20 is. The detailing, the articulation, the size, the packaging, it's all leaps and bounds above what we had growing up.
Where I think we're being ripped off is on the cruddy 5POA stuff that's no better than what we had 30 years ago. That stuff should be dirt cheap by now as it should've been commoditized. 7 parts with a few spots of paint for $10 is ridiculous. All it does is make the 6" stuff look like a tremendous value in comparison.
The only solid ground Paul has to complain about pricing is to compare Marvel, with BAF parts, to Black Series, without BAF parts, as having the same price and he completely ignores it.
