You want something BIG or something fun to pose?
Do you prefer a rep from something familiar, or will just any Kaiju do?
Are you willing to spend fuckloads of money or are you looking for a budget figure?
My first figure was the 02' SHMA Godzilla, and I adore that fucking thing despite the eye that looks directly up to god and questions why it was allowed to be created, but some people think that's an absolute dealbreaker.
I personally think that the SHMA Kong Figure -any of them, they're basically all the same figure with slightly different colors/chest sculpt, but the event exclusive one is probably the best value- is the best one I've purchased so far, a lot of character, under a hundred bucks, and generally nice articulation, just not very screen-accurate.
If you want something more a lot more budget-friendly and screen-accurate but not as good in the articulation department, look into something from Hiya. Again, depends on where your priorities lie.
All of this assuming you want to start with something Godzilla-related or Godzilla-adjacent.
I say all of this with the experience of someone who only got into the hobby like 2 months ago and only has 3 Kaiju figures, so, you know, definitely not an authority on it.
