considering Lego ninjas started out as non-themed, they added colors, like the Space figures. and kids were drawn to it (more colors! oh! there's a green one now!) we could have easily wound up with Space-go or Castle-go, the original gimmick of spinning was more like a Ninja move, so here we are decades later with Ninjas
I thought the snake bad guys looked the coolest, but I kinda liked the steampunk air pirates, too
