The concept art also shows a bunch of small figures, which must be the Mytes and Gleanons who showed up in New Adventures #53 and started defining Mara and Crita's character arcs.
Imagine He-Man's love interest being a robot woman.

Correct.
Mara is a funny case because she's not visually hot when introduced. It's the personality of going from "pacifist who dresses like a Roman lady" to the bikini and boots that go with her battle hair.
