I really wanted some of the big sets as a kid, but I only had small ones like this one. They had some cool gimmicks and their themes like metal ages, fire and ice, and crystal whatevers captivated my impressionable young mind. Looking back on it though, their sets were impressive but ultimately weren't very fun to build, and the parts were so intricate and purpose-oriented that it was hard to build anything other than dragon fortresses out of them.
I had a couple of the egg dragons as well. Those things may as well have not been advertised as building toys because you couldn't build anything out of them except interchanging parts that were just palette swaps of each other. Pretty cool for a while, but ultimately I got more enjoyment from building huge dragons out of lego.
