Vangelus makes a point to chuck every 100 + dollar toy he reviews at the wall to show that they aren't flimsy pieces of shit. That whole line of reasoning seems a bit like conformation bias.
Third party toys have arguably more play value because they are capable of much more poses on average. They have a better heft due to parts count and often times die cast parts. The high price tag goes a long way towards getting a better figure.
Price disparity is a huge downside, sure, but don't imply that third party toys are only for shelf display. I guarantee that Hercules can survive more drops than devastator could.
