>>10542736My best guess is because the Airborne/Mauls have armor that sits more on the sides of their thighs so they could put the kneepads higher on the leg. The DW trooper has the armor more on top of the thigh and it sits lower on the leg so putting the kneepad on that same part of the leg would make it look to cluttered and also get in the way of where the joint would be.
