It reminded me of an old 90's movie called "Virus" which was about some alien mechanical virus thing (or...something like that) that gets beamed down to a ship, and there's some group of people on there for some reason, and the virus starts infecting all the machinery and killing people, and making these gory flesh-robot hybrid monsters.
