Truthfully, if you think them out intelligently and place them right, cut joints can accomplish a lot without breaking up your sculpt much. Before Nightow invented the Revolver joint, and even a little bit afterwards, Yamaguchi and Kaiyodo were pushing the boundaries of what you could do with cut joints. A good example is the DOA trading figures, which had a few hinges but were mostly cut joints. And those things could fucking POSE.
I'm all for cut joints when done right, honestly. I really like my old Revos with dual cut hips, they get great range without having to deal with the limited Revolver hips.
