Part of the big surprise about McFarlane even making toys for DC is the fact that his telling them to fuck off is what started the process of Image Comics even coming into being, so clearly he's much more flexible now than he was in, say, 1995.
Plus, he likes money, and if he did a new version of the Heat Scan Batman that seemingly every kid had, he'd make more than he ever did off the Spawn movie, I guarantee it.
