See, homages aren't exactly a new thing--we had them way back when too. But back then, they WERE all "loose tributes"--something that wasn't all in your face, but a wink and nod to folks who were fans of whatever they were homaging. This is part of why older Glyos fans are so down on homages nowadays--they leave nothing to the imagination. It's all "this foot has to have a blue paint app because there's a windshield there on the real Devastator." It isn't good for buildability. and it's just so....blatant.
Don't get me wrong, I love and bought a lot of the recent homage figures. But it was a hell of a lot more exciting back in the day to suddenly realize what something was homaging than to have it spelled out for you. And building your OWN versions of characters using only colored PVC parts? That was probably the funnest part of all.
