>>11103746Most of the Marvel releases do seem to be going for specific eras and styles too at least, even if not a single specific artist and story, it's in a ballpark range.
The general lack of DC translations outside of Batman and Superman might be a factor as well; if we see a Mafex comic Flash/WW/GL I'd expect the New52 versions before any individual run likemost Wonder Woman or Flash solos because I don't think they got too many translations
I also think they choose books with art styles they think represent how Japan sees "Americomi"- which is to say, either flat colored classic house styles or Image style. As much as I'd like to see something like Quitely's All Star Superman or Adam Hughes Catwoman/Wonder Woman, I don't think they see it big or iconic over there.
And of course the Gurihiru stuff, since their works tend to get JP translations.
