Hasbro has been telling us this for years, that tooling is super expensive so they need to use generic bucks as much as possible and limit unique sculpts. But McFarlane is cranking the fuck out of new molds like there's no tomorrow, and he's making taller, bulkier figures with more paint apps while still charging less than Hasbro. He's even making gigantic Mega figures with unique sculpts that can't be repurposed! So what gives? How is Todd making ends meet with all this unique tooling? Or more accurately, why can't Hasbro do it, being that they're huger, richer, and move many more units internationally?
It's irrelevant whether you actually like McFarlane's toys or not, the fact is they sort of shamed Hasbro. They came back from the dead to say no, actually, things aren't quite like Hasbro says, and we'll demonstrate how.
