In Japanese media, especially in the 60s and 70s, the idea that giant robots have supernatural powers was ubiquitous to the genre. Jet Jaguar is, therefore, a supernatural character by nature. He comes to life and gets powers because he represents the hopes and dreams of humanity, and when his job is done he goes back to being a regular robot.
