>>10410050Where do you intend on viewing the layout from the most? If you're building the layout from the bottom right corner you should make sure you can access anything you put back there at arms length like that yard over there. Going off of how awkward your layout scenario is you should figure out your benchwork first and foremost before track planning. Working around support columns isn't that hard, you can just build the table around them and hide them with scenery like a mountain or something.
Your layout concept is alright as a first draft and you're pretty clear on what you want to prioritize (East coast passenger trains), so focus your design around that. However, two loops and a siding is still boring as fuck. I know you said you don't want to do operations, but look up how rural stations along the New Haven looked during the 50s and look at how small industries were built up around the Station itself. Most importantly, you only have one way for trains to pass over from one track to the other, while having both passing sidings would make the layout more prototypical while also giving you more ease of operation (ie: not needing to back into the siding to get into the inside loop).
