(Part 1)
Well, pulled the trigger on Strangefate's blank female figure from his Shapeways store. I got the 6in version and I'd like to give the guy credit on the engineering of this considering it's a 3D-printed figure. Sockets are part of the sculpt, and while some cleaning is needed for sockets and holes it all snaps together with mostly little effort.
That being said, articulation is still below a Marvel Legends figure by a few POA. The ankles are strictly hinges, the wrists are a simple swivel, and the knees and elbows are single jointed hinges. Now, the diaphragm does have a double-barbell joint connecting the chest to the lower torso, as does the neck joint, so props to Strangefate there. There's still bicep swivel and ball-socket hips with thigh swivel. The detail (SLS nylon, WSF) is rather nice aside from the stepping, but nothing fine-grit sandpaper can't fix easily. The physique of the female is a little less exaggerated than with the usual ML women though the breasts are big and perky and possess basic nipple-shapes in the sculpt. Hip-thigh articulation has a limited range of motion, sadly, but still much better than any T-hip or V-hip swivel cuts by a long shot. It only comes with one set of hands (grasping right and left fist).
I ham-handed the right wrist peg, but I'll mod it and the other hand to use my custom 5mm ball-joints (same for the ankles) later.
Strangefate has a 7in version, sells parts for mix-matching, and has a few other sculpt variations (including a totally-not-a-Twi'lek and some human skellies).
