There's a long history of this self censorship when politicians are pushing feel good and scapegoat laws, especially when it comes to kids stuff. Mainstream hollywood has enough lobbyers and donations to politicians that they can do whatever they want, but will look like they're Doing Something™ by censoring kid shit to make conservativeparents/MM/twitter/SJW happy.
