MG 3.0 and MG The Origin are your best bets, as the other anon suggested. They won't be the same price or scale though.
If you want cheaper/smaller scale, try the HG The Origin or the G40 and Beyond Global. The latter two are very nice kits but the designs are a bit polarizing.
And if you want the simpler, more oldschool look, go for the MG 2.0 or the HGUC Revive.
Picking any one single RX-78 to call best is impossible, as Bandai naturally milks it with constant releases and updates and variations. It can be overwhelming, but as a general rule of thumb:
Classic = MG 2.0 or HGUC Revive
Detailed = Any Gundam The Origin kit or the MG 3.0
Weird = G40 or Beyond Global
Hundreds of dollars burning a hole in your pocket = Perfect Grade Unleashed
