Minifigs generally look "right", they don'tlook like they're missing paint(usually) or undersculpted, they have a style that works. The lack of articulation adds to the style. Meanwhile, a lot of tiny figures that are standard action figures but smaller just seem cheap. Either you get a minimally articulated, not very sturdy figure, or you get a basic, unarticulated figurine.They don't really get playsets either, which, even if sets aren't the main reason kids want that $140 set with a bunch of minifigs, is still a bonus. Tiny figures haven't really had that playset feature since the pocket playset days of the 90s, and even then the figures were much smaller than Lego.
I mean, just look at these, they LOOK budget. It feels like something that should be a bonus in a promo, not a purchase.
