This is how the basic joint of the figure looks.
Black thing is heatshrink tubbing which comes in all sort of colors and different diameters. It makes the joints nice and stiff but unfortunately heatshrink tubbing is not elastic and will eventually break due to the rubbing.
Transparent thing is a mini elastic hair tie. Basically the same as a regular office elastic band except smaller. I've been trying to find something like it by googling "small/tiny/mini elastic" but couldn't find anything and thought it's not something anyone makes. But turns out the proper name for it is "mini elastic hair tie" haha. Found not in the office supply aisle but in the beauty supply aisle. Go figure.
It's a necessary component because the tolerances vary from filament spool to filament spool. Having some of these elastic bands on hand means never having to deal with loose joints.
