>>6853459I don't have any real basis for it, but I'd bet anything Toa Ignika WAS actually meant to be Matoro wearing the Mask of Life, back then when 2008's protagonists were still Jaller and the others. Remember Greg and other story team folks didn't want to awaken Mata Nui in 2008. 2008's story was originally just the closure of the Ignition arc. 2008 might've been supposed to end like 2007 did, with Mata Nui dying and Matoro's sacrifice.
That raises the question though, how would've 2007 gone according to that plan? I can't help but think Karzahni (and possibly Lesovikk) was meant to be much more important than a side story villain. He was very much an enemy to Jaller's group and it was a waste they didn't meet him again after the 2006 story.
