Honestly, just keep stockpiling on old parts and sets. Any new set they would have feasibly produced next year would crumble under it's own weight in a few months. Maybe with the way 10k was reached so quickly they'll throw a CMF minifig in or something in the future, but seriously this isn't that much of a loss. Put that 50 or so dollars you would've spent on this thing getting a mask you needed or on that Toa you've been eyeballing on Bricklink. I had low expectations going in and you know what, I wanted a metal mask off of Shapeways so that's what I'll get now. Fuck it. The old sets will always be around, even if age wears on them, but literally anything new that Lego could give you now will be in even worse shape than your 2001 figures in a few years time.
