It turns out, likely to due to Playmates thinking they're hot shit again due to the new movie, that Super7 has been bullied out of being able to make vintage toy TMNT figures. We saw this a bit with the Party Wagon that had to be heavily redesigned so it didn't look like the vintage toy, and now we're seeing it with a whole wave of figures.
Apparently Brian has posted that they can't make a figure unless it's appeared in other media. And that starts to squeeze out nearly everything they can do. And it also explains the horrible bishi Rat King.
ALL IN ALL, what this means is the Ultimates line is no longer Playmates updates. The whole point of the line in the first place has now been taken away. No more vintage looks, no more sprues (I'm fine with that honestly). Not good.
