>>9202603The doll’s biggest surprise came from when I undressed her. I was expecting the standard WW torso underneath the suit. But no! Her torso is from the ab-tastic She-Ra doll mold! (Minus the upper torso joint.)
This is interesting! It means that the WW/WWE doll body parts are compatible with the She-Ra body, at least in the hips, shoulder, and neck joints. I’m guessing that She-Ra with her hyper articulated body was the first pass of Mattel’s muscular doll body template. The bean counters came in and ordered the body to be revamped with less articulation and less “ugly” muscles. And thus we got the WW/WWE “Strong” doll body.
So why use the She-Ra torso instead of the WW/WWE torso? The answer lies in her hips. If you compare Cheetah’s hips to WW, they’re noticeably narrower. Those narrow hips would make sliding Cheetah’s jumpsuit on and off a lot easier for kids. Finally, a Mattel decision that’s not stupid!
