For a bit of visual interest you can vary the colour slightly on the gas cans, mix in a drop of white in your base sand paint for some of them, a drop of grey for a few others, maybe yellow here, brown there, possibly even a touch of green or blue. This suggests that they haven't all been painted at the same time with the same batch of paint and then weathered exactly the same, instead different lives have resulted in slightly varied hues. The more weathered and worn you want the final thing to be the more variation you most likely want here, while a showroom-fresh vehicle would have none.
>Also how do I remove Humbrol paint from a piece? If it's Humbrol acrylics then alcohol (isopropanol works better than denatured) or lacquer thinner. For enamels you probably need enamel thinner to have much hope, or whatever people who airbrush that stuff use to clean the airbrush afterwards.
