Less distracting, better light. Good contrast, but that wall baseboard....ugggh.
Get several sheets of posterboard to use as a background. (Black, white, gray, and assorted colors, but make sure they're not VIVID. It's good to have color backgrounds, but you don't want them to overwhelm the colors of the item you're shooting.
Also look into contrasting colors. Don't put blue behind a blue/green figure, or red behind red/orange. You want the subject to pop, not bend in.
Also, I would have cropped the image a bit. (pic related)
