I have a old friend who works at Walmart. He's one of the one who meets reps from Hasbro, Mattel, Spin Masters, etc. He's got an NDA and generally won't tell me anything, but he's not into toys himself, so we rarely discuss that anyway.
He mentioned late last year that they were doing Beast Wars. We grew up together and were around 15 and 16 at the time. Back then his little brother was really into BW and when he got really sick my buddy would play BW with his little brother and watch the show every day to keep his spirits up. So memories of that show really hits him hard because of that time with his little brother. He was excited to see it back.
He noticed something and asked the Hasbro rep why two of the characters were missing. The rep didn't know anything about the show and didn't know anything about the missing characters. He told my friend that he'd get back with him on it. And then didn't.
A few months later they met again for something else and my friend ask again about the missing characters. The rep didn't remember to look anything up and when my buddy told him about his little brother and the Hasbro rep finally got it in his own head to remember to look it up.
Turns out that there are two characters missing from the retail line, but they were slotted as partial remolds for another retailer. He wouldn't say who, because that is still between Hasbro and the retailer. (Obviously, it's not where my buddy works, so no Walmart exclusives. Thankfully.) But we will get the whole s1 show cast, it'll just be a hunt for the last two.
He already knew about two exclusives, which are the Netflix Cheetor and one other, which he said will be a $40 item, so it'll be a Voyager with one or to smaller bits.
