>>8193123This is what I'm stuck on - I don't like the rioting and the looting, but I can understand why it's happening. If peaceful protest hasn't worked, what else are they meant to do next instead? The purpose is to act as power posturing, to show those in charge what they're capable of if the demands aren't met. It's worked throughout history, but with modern technology there's no way civilians can overpower government forces so it doesn't really work how it's intended. They just get the response of "we can end this any time yknow". There's no real motive for the authorities to cave into demands unless it impacts their approval ratings, and the more violent things get the more general citizens turn against the protestors.
That all being said I still don't know what their demands are. Obviously the general idea of police not using excessive force which seems to be disproportionately used against black people, but what are the observable changes they want in order to achieve that goal? What action needs to be taken for them to stop rioting (excluding if they get bored or burnt out)?
