Point still stands though: it's a design choice. As mentioned before, they have used real metal chains before, at the same time giving other figures plastic chains.
Real metal chains are cheap if they use generic shit. Cheaper than molding plastic chains. Making design-specific metal chains are expensive. Plus, sometimes chains can be pretty complex, and just look cheap hanging there versus more dramatic stuff like pic. Plus plus, real metal chains can get tangled, which is a big NOPE for an aesthetic favoring McFarlane
