Here's the dirty little secret behind why "curvy" Mattel dolls manage to not look so offensive, and still looks kinda cute. It's because they give her a normal standard Barbie head. Mattel never bothered to give any of the fat curvy dolls a double chin. You can literally take the head off of a curvy doll, and put it on a normal Barbie dolls body and you would never ever know that the head was originally on a curvy fat doll. Girls that have that much fat, and those body types have double chins, and double chins don't look cute. Mattel is trying to make fat dolls look cute by giving them un-realisic normal heads that don't have a double chin.
