>>8900720Every doll restorer has their preferences. Some believe in boil washing and using expensive shampoos and conditioners that are made to detangle and give shine. Some believe in using oils. Others say you can use any type of shampoo. Some say you should leave the conditioner in their hair over night, others say you should leave it in for an hour, others say you don't it at all if the hair isn't that bad.
What do I do? I'll use hot tap water, and Dawn liquid dish soap on most dolls now. The kinda that has the ducks on it. If it's good enough for the ducks, it's good enough for my dolls. If it's a special doll I might use my own shampoo. If the hair needs a little more love I'll put some conditioner on it, and brush it until it's smooth and perfect.
Sadly, if the hair poofs up on you, the only thing that will really get it to go straight again is a hot hair iron, which I don't personally use because I'd be to afraid of burn the hair off. If it's too puffy I'll just keep it as is or if the doll is still in stores I'll to a head swap/trade.
