I really want to know what has caused 3d printers to be seen as this magical panacea that will solve toys, miniatures, computer components, etc overnight with no effort. Good machines can cost thousands, spools of material can run you hundreds depending on how many you need to make something. Then there's even more consideration taken into making and prototyping something to actually work, which is even harder with a toy that needs tolerances to be secure and be poseable in a good way. And once again all but the highest end printers (and even those) are going to require sanding, cleaning and to some degree, resculpting by hand with putty, and once all of this is said and done and you don't have a figure with that classic awful printed texture, you're going to have a toy made out of shittier materials than any production toy. There's a reason that things are injection moulded and toys are constructed of various materials.
