>>10695077Red is notoriously one of the hardest colors to paint. First, maybe the type of material just isn't going to take paint well. Some soft flexible PVC type plastics just can't be painted easily. Also, you'll need to be using a high quality hobby/model paint, and always acrylic and not enamel. If the part is something that will be repeatedly bent/flexed, maybe using a latex based paint or some other paint that will flex will be better. If its a darker color, a white base may be necessary first too.
One time I painted a figure's soft PVC cape with a white latex paint (FX White) and it worked well enough, but wasn't able to get super smooth as it would have if it was airbrushed. The paint had to be brushed on in many, many coats, but did remain pretty durable and was able to withstand some light flexing.
