He is defeated by Goshooter and Shūta while distracted by voices in his head telling him to stop, but is saved and restored in a new jet body by Dreadwing. Dreadwing explains the rise and fall of the Cybertron Alliance that occurred during Smokescreen's slumber and that the inability to end their conflict has made him give up on the future of the Transformer race: he now intends to bring about lasting peace by destroying all Transformers, a goal that Smokescreen sees as his chance for atonement.
